What is the Veterans Service Office?
The Sonoma County Veterans Service Office was established by the Board
of Supervisors in 1944 with the mandate of assisting every veteran
of any
war of the Unites States. Today the VSO serves all veterans and their dependents,
helping to present and pursue any claim against the Department of Veterans
Affairs. Every effort is made to establish the right of veterans and dependents
to any privilege, preference, care or compensation provided by the Federal
or State government.
The Sonoma County Veterans
Service Office provides assistance in completion of claims forms, help
with obtaining documents and other evidence necessary to support claims
and preparation
of appeals of adverse decisions. Information about and referral to other
service providers and programs is also provided.
